Couple of Tropical Bf 109Gs

Had one these Bf 109G Trop for a little over a week now, but just had another one come in so though I would post some photos of the two of them. I like the Dragon Bf 109Gs.

Re: Couple of Tropical Bf 109Gs

They are nice birds - I just received them from an eBay retailer (a_tinman, you may have dealt with him before) and I couldn't be happier with them. The swazis went on effortlessly and they were easy as pie to set up. Not at all like the first releases with all of their annoying fiddly bits. Or maybe I'm just getting used to dealing with Dragon fiddly bits :P

I think I have almost all of the Dragon Bf 109s now... I'm just waiting for my Cyber Hobby Hartmann to come in now.

The Hartmann Bf 109G looks great, picked one up a couple months ago and real happy with it. I think I am only three short from having all the Dragon Bf 109Gs. Dragon did a pretty nice job on the 109 G models and kind of wish the would continue to put a few more out.

Re: Couple of Tropical Bf 109Gs

I agree that Dragon's BF-109Gs are quite good. But there are problems with these models. Aside from their lack of swastikas and pilot figures, I have great difficulty in getting their antennas to stay put---which is a nagging problem as several have fallen off and gotten lost. This is not a question of fiddly bits, but rather, of poor model design since they give you virtually no room to install the antennas firmly in place. I've tried white glue but it's still a tricky business and, frankly, a pain in the arse.

Despite the above cited flaws, I have done a number of repaints on Dragon BF-109s and am quite happy with the results. It's a shame that this company is dropping out of the diecast warbird field.

The antenna mast does like to come loose. Used a bit of white glue on mine and they have held fast pretty good.

A couple of nice schemes for the Bf 109s for sure. Wish they would do Marseille's steeds...

Those would make for some great models, just wish Dragon would start putting out some more of their diecast planes.

I am still hoping they will continue to put out more aircraft models. Kind of limited out there with regards to 1/72nd scale Bf 109Gs.

I got some photo's of the REAL 'Black-6', when she was active & Flying/operating out of Duxford, before that 'Buffoon' (serving) Air-Vice-Marshall crashed her on landing, & put her on her back, NEEDLESSLY = just through poor-judgement - "pilot-error" - (narrowly missing a Motorway/Highway & killing people in the process, hopping over the busy road at roof-top level, before crashing up-side down !!!!!!!!

She went from being the World's ONLY Airworthy-Luftwaffe 'Ex'-combat a/c, to a crumpled wreck, only to be re-built to static.

She lives at Hendon today, in the RAF Museum (North-West London).

If I can find the pix of her 'on the apron' at Duxford, I'll post 'em.

You can then see how accurate the model is !!!!!!!!!!!!!
