| Dragon Expo 2008? Just noticed on the Dragon USA website that the Dragon Expo 2008 will be held in Virginia Beach this August 6 - 9. Never been to one. Is it worthwhile? Something I should go to and bring lots of money? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008? There'll be a LOT more tanks and soldier figures than airplanes, but the odds are good they'll unveil a few new models. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008?
Sounds like this will be a part of the IPMS National Convention, which is taking place at the new Convention Center during this time. I went to the NC at the Pavilion in 2002. I highly recommend attending. There will be scores of good deals there.

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008? Last year the Dragon part was nice but quite limited. It was all in one moderate sized conference room. The modeling association (IPMS?) that jointly sponsored the gathering offered much more, including many interesting seminars, field trips, a large model display area and a large vendors' room. The amount of money you will need will vary with your self control. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008? David's right...I went to the IPMS/Dragon joint convention in Atlanta and Phoenix (at least I think it was a joint convention in Phoenix) and there were mostly figures and tanks present. I never understood why they didn't do more special convention aircraft. Dragon NEVER brings anything to sell, they may have a few items on display. Most of the stuff for sale will be from various vendors. As mentioned above, your best shot will be in the IPMS convention rooms | |||||||||||||

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008?
Oh yeah. One can find all sorts of nice stuff there. For example, when I went to the 2002 event, there were a couple of books I had been looking for. I had been looking for them for over 5 years. Found somebody selling them within ten minutes after I arrived. Picked up a few other items as well. A very productive day! The convention will be geared towards plastic modellers, but hopefully some of the vendors will have diecast available.

| Re: Dragon Expo 2008? I have been debating whether to attend since I'm only a few hours away. I know Expo 06,Dragon had two special diecast airplanes made for the Expo, but I have yet to hear anything about this years. So for those that have attended in the past, what were the lectures about? and the field trips? Just curious if a military history geek like myself will have fun | |||||||||||||

I picked up both the DX-06 Diecast planes and really like them. I wonder what the chances are that they might have something similar this year.
