Steps to fix stabilizer on Dragon Bf 109G

Awhile back I started thread going into how the Dragon Bf 109Gs stabilizer is set just alittle to far back. I posted some pictures of what it looked like after adjusting the stabilizer, but not the before pictures to compare with. Well, I just received two Dragon Bf 109s today and here is the process of how I made the correction to the stabilizer.

Here is what the stabilizer position looks straight out of the box. The raised potion on
the rudder gives you an idea of where the stabilizer leading edge should be.

Here is a downward view of the tail assembly.

Downward view with highlighting of where the leading edge of the stabilizer is and where it should be.

Step 1. Gently remove the moveable surface of the rudder.

Step 2. Gently remover the stabilizer. Really need to be gentle on this step.

Step 3. Here is what the stabilizer looks like removed, shaded area how much
I guaged need to be removed, and finally stabilizer after it had been filed down.

Note: I used jeweler file as seen in picture to file down the center section.

Part Two.

Now the fun part, putting it back together.

Step 4. Gently slide the stabilizer back into place. A jewelers
flat head screwdriver works well to seat it in place.

Step 5. Gently put rudder back on.

Another shot of completed fix.

The other two Dragon Bf 109Gs I corrected the stabilizer position on. Dragon did a nice job on their Bf 109Gs and Fw 190s, I look forward to any new releases they might put out on these.

Great repair job CC. Now I have to go look at my flightline and check my Dragon 109's.

Re: Steps to fix stabilizer on Dragon Bf 109G

Great repair job CC. Now I have to go look at my flightline and check my Dragon 109's.

So far I have picked up 4 Dragon Bf 109Gs and each one has had this issue with regards to the stabilizer position. I looked back at one of the earlier threads with some pictures of a Dragon Bf 109G posted by another forum member and it to has the stabilizer out of position too. Overall I think Dragon did a fantastic job on their Bf 109G models, but with the exception of how the stabilizer was placed. It bugged me for the longest time, and I just had to see if I could correct it. Now that I know I can fix this error, shoot I look forward to any future Bf 109G releases that Dragon might come out with. Picture below is from earlier post I found back on page ten Dragon Warbirds Me109G-6 "Black 1" 2./JG 27 1944 by Tsr2. The pictures show the same problem.

Re: Steps to fix stabilizer on Dragon Bf 109G

I did a little looking around for any pictures I could found of Dragon Bf 109Gs.All those I could see close up of tail assembly had the same issue with regards to the horizontal stabilizer. Just curious if any forum members have picked up any Dragon Bf 109Gs that did not have this problem?
