Re: Tomcatters Super E

How'd you do the lugs/swaybraces for the outboard pylon? Glue them on from another Dragon model? What type of glue? (they're made of a weird slick/rubbery plastic)

Remember I said previously that my Dragon Hornet didn't come with CVERs? Well I was wrong, discovered them later on in the box after I'd posted that comment. The lugs came from these two included CVERs - that makes 8 that I could use.

Any pics of a Sparrow launcher for the Super Hornet's outboard pylon as you've mentioned previously? I'm just wondering if I can scratch something up.

PS - Wilco on the SLAM, thanks for letting me know.

Re: Tomcatters Super E

LAU-115

Wolfpack Design

Now, technically the jettison adapter (between the pylon and launch rail) is not required, but since most usage of the LAU-115 nowadays is for the dual AMRAAM rails, they usually leave it on. (the jettison adapter is the part on top of the Sparrow launch rail, about 3/5 the length of the rail)

Also--I feel stupid for I have pics from MONTHS ago of VFA-103 planes carrying outboard GBU's, but forgot all about it. Also, a pic of VFA-32 carrying Mk83's (which would be wonderful to have in 1/72, but nobody makes it---Mk83's are one of the most common bombs on any Hornet and Bombcat)

Fantastic! So maybe I can shape the existing HARM rails into LAU-115s and attach some Sparrows. The jettison adaptors shouldn't be too hard to do either.

Re: Tomcatters Super E

I just found out that they're GBU-12's outboard, not 16. 16 isn't cleared (and doesn't seem likely any time soon, if ever--I should have known 1000lbs would be too much). (I have a terrible time telling 12 from 16---must be the fins, as I can tell Mk82 from 83) You can get GBU-12's easily from Dragon, they just have big holes in them when you pull them off the TER.

Re: Tomcatters Super E

Just finished reworking my HARM launchers into a single Sparrow rail. What do you think?

I know the rail itself falls a bit short lengthwise, but figured that since this will be under the wing anyway I should be able to get away with it.

Re: Tomcatters Super E

I think you did very well, especially since it started as a HARM rail!

I changed the HARM's to hang them on a Dragon Super Hornet with the fancy airbrake, so I could use it for an experiment. Changed them by filling up the holes and drill new ones to hang them on the LAU118's.

I also attached the LAU 128 (salvaged from a crashed F-16) and put them on the outer wingpylons so I could hang some AMRAAM's on it.
