Actually F-4’s nose position were the opposite of the knelling F-14; USN & USMC F-4’s would raise their nose in order to increase their angle of attack for launch.

Phantoms used a catapult bridle which attached to the underside of the plane to catapult shuttle instead of a tow bars such as with the A-6 & F-14.

hmmm I knew I had seen it go up as well as retract, I just assumed that the up position was standard (although it does look funny now that I look at it). Learn somethin new everyday.

Nice idea, where did you get the jeep at?? Did you make that or did you just buy it.

You can get the Jeep from the Johnny Lightning/Playing Mantis Military Series of diecast.

I got the Jeep at a local hobby shop. 1/72nd. I was thinking of sprinkling flour over it and the plane but that would destroy the models i'd guess. And Petie 2nd is hard enough to find! And I used to have some airfix 1/72nd USAAF ground crew around as well, but can't find them at the moment.

Well, my Dragon carrier-launch diorama is on the way (with the Diamondbacks F-18F), and I have the CW "kneeling" Tomcat. Now I need more deck figures (e-bay here I come!).

Love ya 51 diorama, very wintery. I did one with a 1.72 lanc and covered that with flower looked very good, but got sick of the kids sticking their fingers in it and ruining the effect.
