No need to scour Ebay, that kit's still in production and readily available.

Squadron.com

And a very similar kit, Squadron.com

Details on both kits:
1/72 Flight Deck Crews & MD-3 Tractor
1/72 Fire Engine & Flight Deck Crews

The two HLJ links above says "items out of stock"!

i don't see that much of a difference either for those that are in stock as opposed to ebay

Re: Little bit if this, little bit of that (Dragon Diorama)

Nice use of materials, edb......How about taking a cotton ball (or two) and stretch it apart, placing it along the cat track and around the nosegear area to represent steam coming off the catapult. This would also help to conceal the lack of a shuttle....I've used this method before to represent smoke coming from model ship smokestacks to pretty good effect....Wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

This is a great example of post lauch steam, until CW gives us a cat shot A-6 we'll have to stick with the F-14.
It would be interesting to see how this would work with the Dragon carrier deck since three is no groove to sink the cotton into.
As far as the missing shuttle goes they are simple to fabricate, you can find several web sites which show how to do it.

In this set up the model maker even went as far as to put some cotton in the air intake to further increase the realism.

If you are going to paint your own deck crew figures a 01 & 005 “micron” ulta fine tip maker is a must for lettering, shadowing & panel lines.

Re: Little bit if this, little bit of that (Dragon Diorama)

It wouldn't be....That was a feature unique to the F-14.

I used to think this too, but I'm pretty sure the F-4 Phantom had a similar kneeling position. (but didn't look as cool, IMO)
