Look how they painted the exhaust stack fairing on like an artist uses "trompe-l'oeil" !

Re: Question on Dragon F4 Wildcat 50192

Okay, I know I'm being nit picky, but what is up with all the rivets?

Folgore's very funny wise-crack aside, what IS up with all the rivits. They look overdone to me, and, after looking up some pics of the F4F, I would say they ARE overdone, way too glaringly obvious.

PS on another topic, I definitely see all the panel lines in my pic!

Re: Question on Dragon F4 Wildcat 50192

The Wildcat was the only U.S. Navy fighter for the first few years of the war. It was the only Navy fighter to be used from the beginning to the end of the war. It fought the most heroic dogfights because it was so mismatched in combat and won. This was a very important aircraft and should be represented well in diecast! It is one of my personal favorites and I was very excited to see it finally done by Dragon, C1, and FM/A. Dragon's F4F-4 (FM-1) is very good in my opinion and I hope they do more liveries. But forget about the FM-2!!!

Re: Question on Dragon F4 Wildcat 50192

Folgore,
Very funny. Good one, but seriously, what is up with all the rivets?

That being said, I own one or two of the Dragon Wildcats and Hellcats and rather like them. I had one displayed for the longest time, but it got swamped out a little while ago. I don't recall all the rivets on the bird? Or at least not as prominently as they appear in the pictures.

Anything for a weird life.

I'm looking at my Dragon F4F-4 White 23 (DRW50247) and there's no two ways about it: the rivets are way overdone. They are a little less noticeable on the early-war light blue / gray, though, and even less so on the bird's white underbelly. (And, hey, look: Dragon did a good job with the undercarriage. Nifty.)

Dragon's F6F doesn't have rivets.

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
