Oscar Boesch Bf 109G-6 and Fw 190A-8/R8

I recently picked up the Oscar Boesch Bf 109G-6 and the Fw 190A-8/R8 models. Both a fine looking models and have some fairly nice detail to them. I like the armor detail on the Fw 190 and even have rivet detail for the armored wind screen.

Re: Oscar Boesch Bf 109G-6 and Fw 190A-8/R8

I have both of these, too, and think they're pretty nice overall -- though the missing outboard 30mm cannon on the FW are AWOl, which is what makes this variant to my knowledge, so that's a glaring omission. And I think there are some issues with the colors, too -- specifically the defense bands and coloring of the number. (don't know about the 109). The armor plating is a nice touch, though.

Here's a little bit on the 190 and pilot, who must have had nine lives...

It's the mount of Oscar Boesch, a German late-war ace whose
unit suffered an astounding 350% loss rate. Boesch himself was shot down eight times! His
victories included a Spitfire, a Mustang, six B17s, two B24s and eight Soviet aircraft. Here's
a snippet from his bio:

"After completing 120 operational sorties, his aircraft collided with a Yak-9 over Berlin,
during the last days of the war. He was captured by the Russians after baling out, but
escaped and walked 1000km to his native home in Austria."

Oscar was a regular at airshows up here for many years flying his sailplane. He was always introduced as ex-Luftwaffe flying Fw 190's late in the war.
Had opportunity to speak with him over the years, nice man.

It is odd that they did not include the outboard wing armament, since a couple of their other models have a wing mold to support this. I do remember reading somewhere in the past an article that mentioned reduction in wing armament to offset for the extra armor weight. For the most part I am quite pleased with both these models now that they are properly attired.

I got lucky and picked up both of these on eBay. I paid out a little more for the Fw 190, but the Bf 109 was a steal at just over fifteen dollars.

I've seen 'em at a retailer recently for a good price but I can't remember which one for the life of me... Looks like echobasetoys has the 190 in stock for $40, which seems a bit steep.

I know where you can get both for $19.25 each... PM me for details...
