Re: Dragon's new Hellcat

I just received my "White 00" today and I love it. The early scheme goes well with the Wildcat hanger mates and looks good beside both the HM and Dragon late war Hellcats. The exhaust stains are a bit iffy/shinny, but I think I can fix that. The only hang up was the left landing gear strut was missing the door.
I've contacted Dragon Cares and they said they will send a replacement for free, I just need to take a picture of it to show whats wrong missing. All in all, this is a keeper and a nice addition.

Re: Dragon's new Hellcat

You can never have too many Hellcats.

Glad you like this one, I may get one once i'm settled in.

Your Yorktown Double Nuts was flown by Commander Jimmy Flatley, who if you don't know already, was instrumental in helping the fleet adopt the Thach Weave. Flatley saw combat as Executive Officer of VF-42 aboard the Yorktown during Coral Sea, and later took his combat experience to heart as original CO of VF-10 the Grim Reapers. During a scrap returning to the Enterprise, Flatley's division of 4 Wildcats, low on gas, were jumped by a formation of Zeros. Flatley used the Weave to keep his men alive, and they made it back despite numerous attacks. It was Flatley who named the manuver the Thach Weave...as Jimmy Thach was much too modest to name it himself....calling it the more descriptive Beam Defense Manuver. Thach was later fleeted up to CO of the Second Yorktown Air Group, and it is this period that he flew this machine. There is the famous color shot of it spotted in front of the second Yorktown's Island.

People...Ideas...Hardware.

The combo of the three certainly helped the Hellcat gain the record it did in the Pacific.

Re: Dragon's new Hellcat

Just recieved White00 today and its a very nice model from Dragon. Not to many fiddly bits and even has exhaust stains on it. Placed my last Corgi figure I had from the damaged ones I have. Does not come with any bombs like HM but it is a great model.

Re: Dragon's new Hellcat

Tried to post this one with the others but it would not go then. Shows the exhaust stains really good.
