Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

Has anyone seen these? They appear to be Dragon Warbirds in 1/72, 1/144 and 1/400 for sale in military BX/PXs. I have never seen them before (probably because I'm dense), but I picked up a 1/72 F-16D with SC ANG markings today for $19.95. They also had AZ ANG and MN ANG (I think) for F-16Ds. For F-15s, they had a Lakenheath and Seymour-Johnson F-15E, and an OR ANG C-model. They had an F-117 and an A-10 in 1/144, and C-130s, E-8s and AWACS in 1/400.

What else is out there? The price point is really attractive to me.

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

I've seen them in our PX, bought a F-16 for the boy. Wasn't impressed. I'd guess factory seconds sold to AAFES and the military crowd. There are also A/C weapons sets, and battle barbies too.

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

The sets and aircraft your seeing are actually pre release. I picked up a 90th fs F-15E about 6 months before dragon even announced them on the normal line. What kind of wepons sets are talkin? just the 1,2,3,4 or is there a 5 or 6 now?

Yes, I have the same PX-sold SC ANG F-16D and it has a bad landing gear assembly. But, it did come with two Dragon pilots!

In "Swampfox" markings?

Dragon in 1/72 scale?

Who here can help me get a couple of these?

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

Sorry for the crappy photography. Here's a pic of what the box and model look like. I haven't assembled it yet...

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

Thanks for the pics bsmith!

So is the quality inline with Dragon? I mean... is it a Dragon in a "5 Star" disguise? Can't say I've ever heard of "5 Star" before...

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

They are the same dragon and will porobably be released in the future. the only difference is that they have a "five star" cover on the box.

Re: Dragon Warbirds "5-Star" label

I have seen these over the past year or so at the Hanscom AFB BX. I got the SJ F-15 and it is comparable to my other Dragon F-15 IMHO. They seem to have them "off and on" - not always in stock. Not sure if they just have different packaging, but that would be my guess.
