The B-29's

What do you guys think of the Dragon B-29'? I am thinking of getting Enola Gay and Boxcar.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I've got "Look Homeward Angel" and I like it a lot. It's better than the Corgis IMHO (for example it has a transparent nose, not just painted).

Re: The B-29's

Thanks buddy. I am thinking of ordering both of them. I thought it would make a nice display.

Re: The B-29's

Here are my humble thoughts on Dragon's Look Homeward Angel, from my earlier post on The Pub/New Additions to Your Collection:

The Good: The mold looks good to me overall -- but, then, I'm not a rivet-counter. Good heft -- them's some big wings the B-29's got, and they're all metal in this model. The painted cockpit windows -- usually a deal-breaker for me -- look fine on the B-29, I s'pose because the cockpit is flush with the fuselage. The tail gun section (painted windows + small plastic fiddly bit for the guns) is well done, as are the turrets. The main landing gear has rubber tires with tread -- looks nice and helps keep the model in place. The nose art is well applied -- better than I've seen it done on other Dragon models. The open bomb bay sections have nicely detailed interiors. Which leads to...

The Bad: I couldn't remove the closed bomb bay doors from the aft bomb bay, even with a toothpick or Xacto knife. When I tried fitting the open bomb bay piece into the fore bomb bay slot, I couldn't get it to fit well. I eventually just went with closed bomb bays, figuring the plane will spend most of its time on my shelf, its underbelly unseen, anyway. The open landing gear pieces aren't modelled properly -- there's clearly no way the landing gear could fit into the wheel wells as molded. The wheel wells need to be deeper.

The Ugly: There's some slight scuffing on the rear fuselage underbelly, below the tail, but not enough to bother me. Again, it's not visible unless you pick the model up and look at it fairly closely. Also, while the nose art is well done, I would've preferred a Vargas pin-up to a pirate... Hmm... placing it next to my Corgi F-86, I do prefer the Hound's unpainted metal finish to Dragon's. Corgi's seems more realistically metal-y.

Minor complaints only: this is a very good model overall, IMHO, and it looks good sitting beside my Corgi 1:144 Lanc. Now, if only someone would produce a decent 1:144 B-17, B-24, B-36...

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!

Re: The B-29's

I have Enola Gay...highly recommended....I did modify the nose gear to make it look more accurate, and I removed the superfluous "Enola Gay' from the starboard side (I just can't seem to leave anything alone!)...Now it's pretty awesome looking...but would be even more so in 1/72nd.

Totally blows Corgi's Superforts away...
