Finally picked up a Dragon

I have been collecting diecast for a while now, but for some reason had missed adding a Dragon Warbird series to my collection. Predominately I had focused on Corgi products with a few IXO/Altaya, Matchbox Collectibles, Hobby Master and Marushin models. Not sure why, but for some reason I had missed picking one up earlier. Last Saturday pickup my first Dragon and it was the Ju-87D-5 (CommanderIII./SG 2). Kit came at a price of just over $15.00, so I really have no complaints on there. I figure if you can pick up a diecast kit for under $25.00, well life is just pretty good. My first impression was that the packaging seemed fairly similar to that of Hobby Master, but with the exception that box appeared to be a little sturdier. Upon opening box I observed a fairly nice looking plane, lots of parts to put on, and the dreaded PC (This will be corrected as soon as decals come in form Squadron Mail Order.). The tail wheel and the propeller (Which was pushing overly snug and a bear to get on.) had a solid fit. Other parts were pretty much on the loose side, not a real complaint in that the OXI parts often had to be trimmed to fit. In after thought I would have preferred the main gear having a slightly tighter fit. All parts with the exception of the canopy (Elmer's) went on with the assistance of CA. Overall I can only conclude that Dragon puts out some nice diecast models. I have made some of their plastic kits in the past and should have tied the two together. I like the separated flap/ailerons, tail wheel, stabilizer struts and smaller aerials detail on Corgi Ju-87 slightly better. Dragon seems to have depicted ordnance better, but wish they had added under fuselage bomb wrack (Trapeze). All in all I was impressed with the quality of tnis Dragon Warbird model. Hard to pass up on a good kit for really good price.

Re: Finally picked up a Dragon

I've never seen one of the Dragon Ju-87's to compare to others, but I would expect it to be good like most of their other planes. If you want a spectacular one, go for one of their P-47 Thunderbolts or one of the F4U Corsairs. They'll knock yer socks off!

Re: Finally picked up a Dragon

I just had to revoke my Ju-87's PC status. In the picture below you now can see that it is properly attired and politically incorrect.

Cruver Collecter,
Congrats on the pick up. When Dragon does a plane right, they really nail it.

Anything for a weird life.

Goollllyyy! All I see is a model made and decorated like the original! Nothing more, nothing less.
