Re: Dragon P-51B

Well, it looks like Draggin has declared war on everybody. This should be interesting.

Re: Dragon P-51B

The above statement sums up my feelings as well. The timing of Dragon's release of P-40E and P-51B clearly indicates that decision to produce these models was taken AFTER competition announced and/or delivered its renditions to the market.

Sorry, Dragon won't get my money because this behavior is borderline childish and disrespectful towards consumers given Dragon's association with Hasegawa, Zvezda, as well as with its own kit making arm. They could have just as easily produced a number of planes that nobody have done before them, but chose not.

Regards,

Sergey

Agreed Harry, I love my Geminis....but Dragon does do the best D version, so I would expect their Bs to give Gemini a close race!

Re: Dragon P-51B

Cool, competition is always good for the consumer and I bet these will be great, but they won't assemble as nicely as Gem's or have the metal content...

Just curious- why is this evidence of that? Dragon is known for long lead times and announcing products that don't appear for months or years. Isn't it just as possible that they have had these in the pipeline for a while and decided they had too much invested not to procede?

In a related matter I've always wondered if Dragon had their own little nichie in the market and replicate things because they know they have a base that will go with their version regardless of who else has turned one out.

FWIW I'm more likely to buy the Gemini version than Dragons.

Re: Dragon P-51B

I try to avoid Dragon Warbirds as much as possible. I like my history straight up, not watered down. It's not as big of a problem with tanks, but no tail swazi and doctored allied kill markings are a big downer for me.

IIRC, Dragon had announced the P-40, P-38 and P-51B a few years ago on the back of one of their catalogs.. But just as in their armor line, I think Dragons "opportunity" is over.. They have either waited too long or saturated the market to the point that it is good for consumers, but bad for collectors..
