Hworth18 is right. The P-40 and P-51 (as well as the P-38) have been in the works at Dragon for a very long time, and they've made no secret about it. On the other hand, the only thing that seems to get Dragon off its rear-end these days is the appearance of a direct competitor. Dragon has long played fire with market saturation (it used to try some pretty outrageous stunts with selecting liveries for 1/400 airliner models, timing annoucements and making selections in an effort to dampen sales of competitors). But given how few models Dragon now releases in the diecast warbird world (relatively speaking), I honestly don't think they are being so foolish anymore.

I am starting to get the impression that unless a model is really special (Swordfish), a fast seller (Lancaster), or unique enough that another manufacturer is not going to make one (Catalina), my best approach is just to wait a while, build up my funds and see which company puts out the best of a particular plane. I will deifnitely wait for the Dragon P-51B to come out before I pick up a Corgi or Gemini one. Then I can pick the best of the bunch.

I think I'll probably pass on this one. I'm getting frustrated with my dragon warbirds, I don't have one that doesn't need parts to be glued or the parts have fallen off and are missing because I didn't glue them

According to USAAF regulations at the time, this plane should have the stripes on the horizontal stabilizers.. But it is common knowledge that regulations weren't always followed and some planes never got the recognition stripes in the tail as they should have had..

Since this is just artwork, I can leave it to the fact that it might be fixed, or it might not be.. But I will probably leave someone else to get this and review it before I make a decision to buy one..
