Dragon Eagle is not the best?

I keep reading that Witty Wings makes the best F-15. Is it really better than Dragon? I have a Dragon F-15C and F-15E Strike Eagle. What is so inaccurate about them or is it a quality control issue?

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

I also have a Dragon F15 C and E. Suits me but then I do notice lots of guys on the forum have great insights into accuracy and can compare with other brands. I only have the Dragons.

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

Their C's are about equal, assuming the Dragon is one of their later releases with the corrected nozzles. As for Dragon's F-15E---it's not an F-15E at all.

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

What was wrong with the nozzles? Why is an 'E' not an 'E'?

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

Dargon's early F-15C's had feathered nozzles--which some F-15C's were built with, but were wrong for every scheme Dragon did. Most F-15C's never had them, and every one that was built with them had them removed very early on. It wouldn't surprise me if Dragon someday does an F-15C that should have feathered nozzles, but doesn't put them on.

As for the F-15E: It's an F-15D painted dark grey. The most glaring error which even most of the "less critical" collectors won't accept is the fact that the whole reason for the E model's existence is missing---the ability to carry a large amount of bombs.

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

When I bought my first F-15 the only one available was a Dragon, although the first models had twisted tails (see first picture below/ecm pods on top of tailsection). After those first two there followed more Dragons, because the first Witty's were disappointing due to the 'flattened' cocpit glass of the twinseater. That's why I never considered buying a 'Witty'. The only thing I (and many others) do miss is, the lack of sufficient pylons on the E model, but with the underwing fueltanks it's not so 'empty' anymore.

Picture below shows the two differnet tailsections of the Dragon F15's, wrong one at the right.

Regards Jos

I am as you put it "less critical" but I have to agree with your comments on the F15E, I was most disappointed by its inability to carry ordnance.

Re: Dragon Eagle is not the best?

I had forgotten that Dragon's earliest C models have the tailfins swapped. I think they corrected that before they fixed the engines though, so that means there's 3 variants:

1. Wrong tails, wrong engines.

2. Right tails, wrong engines.

3. Right tails, right engines.
