Wubke -190D-9 markings?

Someone explained once on the old Model Hangar...what was the story behind the "By Order of the Ministry of Railroads" or whatever markings? Anyone got a link?

Re: Wubke -190D-9 markings?

I actually read about this just this week!

After the failure of the Luftwaffe to destroy the the RAF, the Luftwaffe bombers were relegated to bombing London by night, and the fighters were ordered to carry bombs which they could drop on quick cross-channel hops. In effect, JaBos had been born.

Waldemar Wubke heartily disagreed with this philosophy. In his opinion, only three vehicles should carry bombs: Bombers, trucks and trains. Apparently, he had the words "In service to the Reich Rail Service" painted on quite a few of his aircraft.
