Re: Broken Swingwing

Thx Skysurfer 808. Too bad you didn't open the box(first person experience). Some ppl in the forum admit that they're fond of their dragon Tomcats.

Too bad the localshops don't sell witty or Century Wings. I prefer not to buy Forces of valor. I've been dissapointed by their tank models and looking at their !:32 aircraft model....gosh it's just so 'dirty' and crude.

Trying haaard to resist. Anyone else? pls

I have a Dragon (VF-103 F-14B). It's not a bad model, but not up to the standards of Dragon's F-16s. I also had severe fit issues with the landing gear and ultimately had to use a great deal of white glue to get it to stand up. The finish is not especially convincing, and clearly looks like a model next to the new Forces of Valor and CenturyWings F-14s.

The old Forces of Valor F-14A (VF-84, 1991) was terrible and is to be avoided. The new Forces of Valor F-14A (VF-154 and VF-41) is a prototype of the CenturyWings mold and is very good. (See the pic below -- it may be dirty (intentionally so), but it's not crude!)

I've opened em, but put em back when I saw how lousy the swing wing mechanism is. As far as Forces of Valor, most of their stuff is pretty low rent, but their new release of the Tomcat, the VF-154 Black Knights version is currently the best Tomcat out there...till Century Wings comes up with their version.

Re: Broken Swingwing

Hecks i already bought it. It's F-14B USN VF-11 Red Rippers, USS John F Kennedy. I thought only women have the problem with resisting impulse buying.

Canopy opening is crude compared to Gaincorp and it's scratched a little. Swingwing okay. It can swing fully back & forward position.

Now abt the assembly:
All parts fit. One external fuel tank did give some trouble now it's okay. Landing gears okay except when the tomcats put on smooth surfaces such as glass the gears spread. But when the tomcat is put on wood surface it is okay. Okay it's not up to what i expect. Now hoping Santa would give my money back . Is it too late to write him ?

Now i'll starve myself save the money to buy another Tomcat. If there one around...

Re: Broken Swingwing

The thing with Forces of valor is that their panel lines are always too stark dan black. I prefer more subtle panel lines. But RJLee yeah that Tomcat looks solid. The factor which is so severly lacking in dragon models.

Skysurfer808 thx for the heads up with the swing mechanism. Now i use both hands on both wings whenever changing the wing position. I do not dare to change the airbrake to fully open though. Looking at the underside airbrake...it seems like a nightmare putting them on without any glue.

I have a Dragon F-14 B, VF-103 "Jolly Rogers." It's in the box and from the comments I've read on this site, it's gong to remain there. Too bad, because the livery does look sharp.

Re: Broken Swingwing

Stalag8611 r u goin to sell it? If not it doesnt' hurt to open it, assemble it the way u like it(extended gear or fly model) and see for urself whether you like it or not. I mean you've spent money on it why not enjoy it .
Unless you have too many models already put on display or another way better tomcats . Just be mindful when swinging da wings. use both hands and do it gently
