MY ORIGINAL AIRPORT DIORAMA DISPLAY (1:400 Scale)

Back in 2004 i built this magnificent diorama dsplay in 1:400 scale.
  • This AIRPORT DIORAMA DISPLAY was designed and built by myself (except for the building) in a magnificent 1:400 scale.
  • The building, aircraft passage gateways & light poles are from HERPA airport building kits.
  • The aircraft and ground support vehicles models are the famous DRAGON WINGS 1:400 scale models. The actual size of this diorama was 42" x 30".
  • As always attention to detail is exceptional. Weathered tarmac, tire marks on the runway, oil stains, natural looking grass and taxi lines are just a few examples of level of details I put into..
  • At first I had only North American Airlines model planes and I ended up chaning them into European Airlines liveries.
  • I had a lot of fun building it and it took me approx. 4 months to complete.
  • A great inspirational website was www.airliners.net
  • I ended up selling this display (incl all planes and vehicles) on Ebay in fall of 2004 at a very big price, but now I kind of regret...
  • Anyways... I'm planning to build a another one in the near future.
  • Enjoy the pictures...

Fabulous! Very well done, and extremely impressive! Tell us about the future airport you have planned. Patience is a virtue!

That's really cool! I'd like to be able to do something like that in 1/72nd. Maybe a WWII British airfield.

Thanks for sharing! I take it you have some extra floor space?

This diorama was displayed in the Hobby room that I had set-up at the old house I lived in.
It was the attraction of the neighbourhood...Every single person came over to my place spent at least 30 min in that room...just drooling...
I do regret selling this display. I should have kept it.
