1:72 seated aircrew figures ?

Everything's in the title ! I would like to man some IXO planes (Skua, Beaufighter, He219, Do335): where to find suitable pilot figures ?

Thanks.

Believe it or not, but your best bet is old Airfix kits. Try and find kits of the Mosquito, Ju-88, etc., for multiple crew, the larger bombers for pilots and gunners, and fighters for single pilots. The detail is good, some work may be required as some diecast cockpits are created for the 'legless'. Just add paint.

When rummaging in person, I like to find the bagged' Airfix kits (fighters, twin engined) so I can see exactly what is inside before I buy. Sometimes Airfix kits partly assembled (el-cheap-o on evilBay) can also be a great source -- assuming the kid hasn't beat you to the punch and scooped the aircrew first!

What to do with the rest of the kit? Use it for parts. Got a Legends Spit you want inflight? Rip the glued-in Corgi u/c off and use the 'up' position gear from the Airfix kit. These kits can also be a good source of guns, bombs, rockets, aerials, tailwheels -- you name it!
