A Difficult IXO Frank Repaint

This one needed lots of putty, sandpaper, filing and glue---and, yes, some paint.

Re: A Difficult IXO Frank Repaint

Epapazian, how’d you strip the paint? Nice looking job, by the way!

Thanks, Gort. On a model that is as crude as this, I don't bother to remove the original paint job. Instead, I gently sand down portions of the model marred by excess lumps of metal or raised lines caused by the pad printed insignias and other markings. When the model looks smooth enough, I just start painting. This particular IXO needed a major correction, using putty and much sanding, to eliminate the assembly gaps where the wings and tailplanes "meet" the fuselage, as well as holes in other areas, rough edges, etc. The result looks fine from a modest distance, but not so hot under magnification.

Re: A Difficult IXO Frank Repaint

Nice job!! I can relate inthat I've redone a couple sub-standard die cast vehicles, its a lot of work! A/C I've been lucky in what I have is O.K. with me,although I've been tempted on a few ideas. I've got major health issues that might trace back to a lot of paint/solvent exposure, which is one reason why I love die-cast.....I can enjoy without the risk of major modelling efforts and going south with my health again!
