The arrow is a decal, however it didn't fit too well, so I had to retouch it.

Yes. I find it more of a challenge that way. Also, I have developed techniques to simulate airbrushed mottling fairly well---although not to perfection.

I do interior work and smaller parts by hand, but larger areas I pretty much go with the airbrush. Nice handy work with a brush you did there.

I would say that I limit myself to modest weathering------like exhaust stains and darkening panel lines when they need it-----about half the time. Of course, I also find myself having to paint on navigation lights, darken vent openings, paint wheel wells, and the like on many models---but these are minor fixes. As a result, there are very few models I put on display that I leave completely alone.

On the repaint front, however, it's not a matter of fixing but, rather, turning out a completely new livery. I have made it a point to buy "extras" of planes like Corgi's BF-109E , FW-190A and Zero, Dragon's FW-190D , many IXOs-----the Oscar, Tony, F2A and Yak-9 , for example---and Model Power items such as the I-16, Fiat CR-42 and JU-88----just for this purpose. I also maintain a large collection of decals, which aids me immeasurably in this regard. The Oscar redo pictured on this thread is the fourth time I have done a new livery for this IXO product and I have several more Oscars waiting in storage for their turn.
