Re: IXO Beau nightfighter

Have a question about the IXO Beaufighter. Does it come with rockets or maybe a torpedo?

Rockets only, CC. As no4 mentioned, the stock model also has an erroneous radar aerial (should be a camera).

Thanks for the pics, no4mkit - you have quite an impressive collection of RAF night fighters.

Question Re: IXO Beau nightfighter

Yeah -- very nice work, alright, no4mkit. Great looking photography too! I saw these shots earlier at DAF and really admire your skills.

Say -- how difficult was it to remove the horizontal stabilizers out of the rear of the fuselage to correct the dihedral? And while we're at it, you added a pilot to this as well -- did you go through the canopy or was that a case of unscew the bottom and go in that way?

I'd be curious to know. That model has a lot of potential with some mods, as you well know(!)

Re: IXO Beau nightfighter

Thanks for the comments guys!

JPN, the tailplanes came away fairly easily. Flex them up and down a bit and the glue starts to snap loose, keep going and eventually you can pull them free. The canopy will come up with an exacto blade slid under the bottom sill on either side. A gentle pry and it popped right off! There's no screws with IXO's - they're glued together.

Ah-HA! OK -- thanx immensely for the insight! I wasn't sure, as I've never had a chance to handle one of these -- yet! I'd like to add one to my collection when 'Friday the 13th' shows up. I can't get that image of it and the Beaufighter on display on Oxford Street out of my head.

Re: IXO Beau nightfighter

Wish someone would put out a torpedo carrying Bristol Beaufighter. I remember the old Airfix kit I made when I was a kid (Probably made a couple of them.).
