Fixing Up An IXO Defiant

Once I got rid of the oil, drops, most of the changes I made on IXO's Defiant involved relatively easy adjustments like removing the extra pitot head, painting in the navigation lights,etc. Then, I turned to the shark mouth markings on the lower engine cowl. These didn't extend under the engine, as they did on the real plane, leaving a sizable gap. To fix this I used part of a shark mouth decal from a Flying Tiger P-40 sheet. This needed a little retouching to blend in with the IXO markings, but that part was rather easy. So, here's how the Defiant now looks, plus a picture of my shark mouth correction on the undersides;

Re: Fixing Up An IXO Defiant

I wish the folks at IXO would put out a Defiant with day fighter paint scheme.

Re: Fixing Up An IXO Defiant

That looks GREAT, no4mkit. Personally, I'm not too wild about the nightfighter version, the painted on? panel lines look terrible to me. (no offence intended, though, epapazian...you did a nice job fixing yours up!)

That is the paint scheme I like to see the Defiant in!

I fully understand your disgust at the 'blue' panel-lines on the 'Night-Fighter' Defiant , Ed .

HOWEVER, that's digital-photography & strong-lighting for ya !!!!!!!!!!

Or, at least - that's what it does to the pix !!!!!!!!

Honestly; though it's hard to believe, it don't even look 1/4 as bad as that in 'real' life (under 'normal'-conditions !).

I recently bought TWO of the little blighters - when the weather (finally) improves, I'll take a coupla shots of the 'Black' Defiant under normal sunlight (& hopefully it will show the difference ?)

No.4 has now gained 'Legendary' status for his 264 Sqdn 're-paint' job (& rightly-so !!!!!! )

....Tell 'em where 'PS*X' lived & flew from No.4
