A Tale Of Three Oscars

So far I've done three repaints of IXO Oscars. Which of these do you rate as the best?

Re: A Tale Of Three Oscars

Like the Siamese paint scheme, kind of interesting looking.

Re: A Tale Of Three Oscars

What's really unusual about this particular scheme's ID markings is the fact that the Siamese flag insignia you see on the tail, was used in larger form under the wings, while the Japanese markings appeared on their topsides. I guess that this discouraged trigger happy JAF fighter pilots from confusing the Siamese planes with P-40s or P-51s and "bouncing" them.

I have an old 1/48th Nichimo kit of the Ki-43 Oscar that comes with decals for doing the Siamese version. They do it slightly different with Siamese flag on rudder, upper port wing and lower starboard wing. Paint scheme is pretty much the same though.

Interesting. I first saw the Siamese motif in a piece in" FineScale Modelling" ( 3/01 ) and later in a Schiffer book on the KI-43 written by Richard M. Bueschel. I got the decals from an old Curtiss Hawk kit.

Kit is pretty old, how old,,,, kit come with a small tube of glue. Not sure what they expected you to glue together with such a small tube though.
