Altaya Cant Z 1007 Redo

While I gave Altaya's 1:144th scale Cant Z 1007 a thumbs up in my review of this model, that was in the context of a mass produced product. In fact the model was lacking the strut supports for its vertical stabilizers---an omission which many will forgive considering the small size of this particular replica. Also, the Chinese must not have spotted the Fascist emblems which are positioned on the fuselage sides in front of the main canopy, so these did not appear on the model. Finally, the upper surface camouflage used an extremely dark---almost black---color for what should have been an Italian olive green and the brown also seemed overly dark. The camouflage also failed to capture the subtle pattern used by the Italians, who usually "wrapped" the upper surface scheme around the frontal surfaces of the main wings and tail planes---another omission.

So I decided to redo the model. This entailed a new upper surface paint job, using more appropriate colors and, I hope, more subtlety. In addition, the Fascist emblems were added and I was able to install the missing struts, employing styrene strips. It's not perfect but as the following picture shows, I now have a fairly realistic Cant,

Looks better with the struts on the horizontal stablilizers.

I must have a mental block when it comes to stabilizers. I see that I called them vertical instead of horizontal in my first post. Maybe I'll revert to that old standby, tail planes to avoid confusion.

Your toning down of the paint scheme really did make for an improvement.
