Rub 'N Buff paste for weathering diecasts

After seeing pics of Capt. Eddies nicely weathered GMP P-40 acquisition off eBay, it made me wonder if the seller used something similar to the paste-like material seen below?
Has anyone experimented using these amazing applique paint tubes to apply weathering techniques like "scuffs/marks/peel-offs" to their diecast models before? Just wondering....
