I finally completed my redos of an Altaya Emily and HE-177, both in 1:144th scale.

The Emily needed some gap filling at the upper wing roots and tail and once that was finished, more or less to suit me, I removed the wheels, added midnight gloss over the numerous side windows, painted on navigation lights, added black to the various air intakes plus some other minor refinements. The biggest change was the weathering, which involved the use of several shades of green on the upper surfaces plus dry brushed aluminum patches, streaks, etc. There's only so much of this one can do on a model of this size so I am generally pleased with the result, which is hardly perfect, but quite acceptable.

The HE-177 had an upper surface scheme which in my opinion, did not accurately reflect how such planes actually looked. So I redid the upper surfaces in more appropriate colors with the gray paint applied in more subtle blotches over the green base. A number of problems were encountered. For one thing, there was some sort of residue ( oil? ) at the wing roots and one of the horizontal stabilizers that was extremely hard to get rid of. Another problem was a noticeable gap on one of the crudely cast guided missles, which I let be for the moment. Anyway, after various touch ups and some digging in my decal files, I was able to come up with a reasonably decent replica of a plane from the same unit, operating over the Bay of Biscay, circa 1943-44.

Great pics of these and thank you! I already have the FW-200 Condor in 1/144 scale, the same as these of course. I really like it but I wish it was in 1/72 scale as the 1/144 scale are a bit small.

Love the scheme Ed!!!! The He-177 looks fantastic and the Emily looks the part also.. Great job, and Very cool!!!
