Re: Trash That Flash

The main problem is that since I'm Amish, I have to wait 'til everyone else shuts out the lights and goes to bed before I can sneak out to the garage and fire up my Dremel.

You mean blow out the candles? Are Amish folks allowed to have generators?

Don't you have a second CW Tomcat? Did you do 1 pair or 2? If only 1, get ambitious with that Dremel! It's collectin' dust man! Then let us know which you prefer.

Re: Trash That Flash

Yes, I've got AJ210 gear "up", on it's stand (I wasn't supposed to get it 'til Christmas but there was an unfortunate accident and I was forced to open it early) so I'm going to dig out the box and get the gear out and go to work on them just as soon as I finish setting up my buggy for tomorrow's NASCAR season finale...

Re: Trash That Flash

[quote=Elmer;123381]I was speaking with a plastic modeler friend of mine about this cutomizing job. He suggested using a Dremel rotary cutting drill. While I had heard of Dremels, I had to admit that I really know little about them. Did some googling; they aren't that expensive. Any Dremel fans out there that can speak to the handy dandy nature of this tool, and, if it would have better application for trashing flash in the CW Tomcats than pin vises and small files? Inquiring minds need to know.

Dremel's are great tools for hobbyists. But they are more for bigger work. You can buy an attachement ( 225 flex shaft ) that sort of looks like the little drill in Skunky's 3rd photo which will could be indispensible for any modler. As a matter of fact, now that I see how Skunky used it, I plan on getting one for hannukah this year. You should be able to find them at Lowe's or Home Depot on sale for the holidays.

Re: Trash That Flash

I believe skydriver is correct about the standard Dremel being for somewhat larger jobs. I don't have that flex attachment for mine, so I think I'll probably just stick to my tried and true Amish method for any future flash removal projects. It's not like I do it that often (although I wouldn't mind having the occasion to do more)...
