Re: Do you customize your diecasts?

Most I've done to mine is add a few dabs of elmers, and it took me months before I allowed myself to do that! (though I am considering adding swazis to my dragons, that's about as far as I'll ever go--I got into this hobby because I didn't want the DIY aspect... and I don't want to FUBAR the resale value should I decide to turn over the collection down the road.

Ditto on this, a spot of white glue on some models. Did have to scrape down wheel wells of CW F-14 to get gear placed properly.
I have a Dragon F/A 18 that I am considering switching to a Canadian version.

Re: Do you customize your diecasts?

I have repainted only a few select planes in my collection just for the fact that they were duplicates and i wanted another variant, or in need of a more realistic paint scheme..

Ditto that. When the inspiration strikes I source a low value/priced casting and go to work. In some cases I've simply weathered a model that I have a dupe of, but usually that's a low value Corgi Legend or spare Dragon plane.

I customize almost every Dragon I buy: sanding, filing, cutting, trimming, glueing... and all this just to put the blasted thing together!

Re: Do you customize your diecasts?

Since I do put the Swastikas on the german models that need it, I guess I do what might be considered some minimal customizing.

That's a good point, Elmer.....Offhand I can't think of one single Draggin' I own that hasn't felt the touch of either a file, blade or CA (or all of the aforementioned)

This is my approach as well. Buy cheap, have fun creating, enjoy the results! This way I get planes I like in markings the manufacturers won't do. Makes my collection uniquely me.

Re: Do you customize your diecasts?

Does adding weapons/crew count?
I bought a couple of weapons packs to dress up some otherwise empty Dragon Super Hornets and Eagles
