Re: At Last! Pictures of Some of My Repaints

This is the new Corgi Russian front JU-52. I didn't like the wavy lines the way they did them, plus I added a number of other improvements and dirtied up the plane so it looks more war weary.

Okay.. thanks for clearing that up..

great stuff Epapazian! I like the dirtied-up Ju-52 and the Dornier 217 is a vast improvement over the Model Power scheme. Did the Me328 rigging come off the back cleanly or did you have to fill some holes?

The ME-328 was mounted on fairly deep holes so I had to saw it off. I was able to use one of the holes for the antenna--it was almost in the correct off-center position--and I filled the other holes or sanded them smooth--or both. This patricular redo was fairly easy, including the add-on pitot tube which I inserted into a flattened bit of aluminum tubing attached under the wing's leading edge.

That is really amazing work. How did you chose the schemes you used?

Re: At Last! Pictures of Some of My Repaints

I have a rather large library of reference books covering all eras, but especially the period between 1935 and 1945. Many of these schemes come from pictures in these books. In addition, I have numerous artists' renditions, photos, etc. collected by country, based on kit schemes, models made by experts as displayed in various magazines, and the like. As you can see, I find tricky motifs, such as the Oscar II, which fought in Burma ( see the book " Flying Colors", by William Green and Gordon Swanborough ) , particularly interesting due to their combination of vivid striping and subtle mottling. Looking at my models, as they appear on my PC screen, I can see that I will have to refine my picture-taking skills quite a bit to do them justice. I should also note that photos of other planes, which I didn't post, revealed numerous flaws that I am now correcting. That's one of the risks when pictures are taken under strong lights. The camera doesn't lie and suddenly you see smudges, brushing errors, etc. that weren't otherwise apparent. So much to do, so little time.

Yeah!!!! Another great diecast artist shares his incredibly beautiful creations! Love the Zero and the night-fighter 262. That's what Dragon SHOULD have created rather than that lame scheme they tried to get us to buy.
