| Removing paint from canopies I have the Corgi Tactical Strike 1/64th scale AH-64D Apache that I'm particularly fond of. I have done some minor detailing to it, such as dry brushing the IR jammer device a gold tint, and picking out the left and right navigation lights their respective colors. I'm waiting for a good Walk Around series book to come out before I detail anything else, but one thing I want to do is clean up the canopy/windscreens. The Tactical Strike series tends to weather their models a little too heavily for my tastes, and on the Apache, they practically spray painted the windscreens a sand color. Does anyone know of a safe way to remove that overspray? I thought of trying either rubbing alcohol or paint thinner, but I'm afraid I'll damage the clear plastic. I already tried clear plastic polish (from Solvaset), but that didn't work. Has anyone else had this issue? I appreciate all suggestions. Thank you. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Removing paint from canopies No, DON"T go anywhere close to it with paint thinner!....Take a nice sharp round wooden toothpick and scratch the paint off with the tip...The wood is softer than the plastic so it won't damage the canopy...Give it a try | |||||||||||||

| Re: Removing paint from canopies I whole heartedly endorse Skunky's suggestion. I ruined a canopy trying to use a solvent to remove the paint. I bevel my toothpicks, so that they look like a chisel, and they work great. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Removing paint from canopies Thank you for the suggestions...I will definitely give the toothpick technique a try; I had never thought of that. | |||||||||||||
