1/24 diecast Sherman

As per Harry's request here are some pics of a 1/24 diecast M4A3(76)W HVSS Sherman, usually called the M4A3E8 or "Easy 8" by GIs.

It's a very nice diecast, but one with some glaring inaccuracies requiring correction. I spent about 105 hours tearing the thing down and replacing and scratch-building many parts, some 500 of 'em or so. I used brass & styrene sheet, strip, and rod to create much of this detail.

The model is airbrushed and represents "Cagey", the third tank of Charlie Company, 89th Tank Battalion, during the Han River fighting of the Korean War.

This build has been accepted as an article by FineScale Modeler magazine and may be published within the coming year. Hope you all enjoy!

A-109E,
Wow, that is mighty impressive. What are the dimensions and weight of this? (You mentioned it was diecast which means it must be a beast.)

Thanks.

It's mostly diecast metal with a fair amount of plastic, djjeffhall, and is one of two the Franklin Mint offer. Yep, very heavy, and although I've never weighed it I found it was easier to work on if I placed it on an elevated stand so I didn't have to hold it up for extended periods of time.

That looks GREAT Bob!!!
I watched the buildup, but I didn't remember seeing it completely finished..
Glad to see it turned out so well...

Oh my.....Now that is really cool...I need one that looks as great as that.
Very nice work...That is one of the best looking Mustangs i have seen in a long time for a plastic model.

Re: 1/24 diecast Sherman

Weren't you suppose to make a WW2 version for me?? I'm only kidding. It was nice watching this one come together even if it was a Korean War version. Good seeing it again.
