Re: 264 Sqn Defiant (Altaya repaint)

I especially like that the panel lines are not black.

That's a good point Ron. I think this model does demonstrate that the castings stand up just fine without them.

Re: 264 Sqn Defiant (Altaya repaint)

just shout to the gunner "Jerries - 6 O'clock high!!!!"

Sorry, couldn't resist philglt! Seriously though, the turret glass comes off with a bit of a wiggle and you can pry off the two pairs of plastic guns with an Exacto knife. Each pair of guns has a tab that mates to a slot in the gun mount which allows them to sit in a level position only. File the tab off of the guns and you can reglue them at whatever angle you like.

Thanks for that No4 I may give that a go. It's a pity they didn't put the guns on a simple pivot so that they could move up and down.I suppose that's what you pay extra for with Corgi.

Phil

Re: 264 Sqn Defiant (Altaya repaint)

Ah, there ya are!

Good to have you back Hornchurch, and thanks - very happy with the result.

Up next are a few more IXO repaints, though I don't know how long before I can put in some time at them. I have a BOB Bf110 and night fighter Beaufighter in progress. Beyond that I have two pretty cool mods in mind, but I'll keep those quiet for now...

Very impressive there No4!!! I do like the Defiant in the scheme other than black and you have demonstrated how well it can look..

Re: 264 Sqn Defiant (Altaya repaint)

Very nice indeed No4. So glad you included the history on the plane too.

I have Stokes Defiant But Doomed hanging on my wall and I'm nearly desperate for the plane but am in a holding pattern in anticipation of a Corgi release. If I had your skill and time I might just give it a try...

Re: 264 Sqn Defiant (Altaya repaint)

Thanks guys! Now since Diecast Direct has indicated the possibility of IXO planes in new liveries, hopefully they'll do one of these.
