Oh, the Horror!!

If you all please, let me vent for a couple of lines. I was out of town for 10 days and my parents were looking after my house while workmen were doing some repairs. Mom noticed some dust on the diecast collection. I trust you can see where this is going. I now have an assorted collection of missles, radio masts, pitot tubes, gear doors, and one propeller hub lying on the shelves. Somehow she took my Corgi "Connie" and "Spooky" gunship out of their stands and lost the black plugs that fit into the models. A wingtip sidewinder is missing from my "Cripes O'Mighty" F-16 and is nowhere to be found. I am refraining from looking in th sweeper bag. The heck with new missle technology...just give our pilots a rag with EndDust!!!

But the models sure are shiney now.

Re: Oh, the Horror!!

I know your pain my friend. I was still in the beginning stages of collecting (only had 20 planes or so) when my dear spouse hired a "Merry Maid" to help out once a week. I didn't know of this until after the fact. How I found out was finding several models with collapsed gear and missing parts strewn about the shelves in my office. My first thought - "THAT CAT DESTROYED MY MODELS!". It was only while pursuing said cat around the house that wifey told me what happened. She said she wanted to surprise me (she did) and that the maid was told NOT to go into my office (she did anyway).

Needless to say I was unhappy. Sure, my office was clean, but the maid was "let go" - never to return.

BTW, the cat lived to destroy another day.

Re: Oh, the Horror!!

Deepest diecast condolences Conemaugh . You may have to finance some replacement diecast aircraft and use the 'bits 'n pieces' for spare parts ... !

Re: Oh, the Horror!!

I feel your pain there. Had 3 models destroyed by clumsy contractor and 2 recently knock down by the kids . I have told them to stay clear and they have been good about it, but kids will be kids, and the wife just smiles and tells me in a very cheeky manor ( She's from the UK) don't be angry with the kids, and to watch were I put MY toys, and then grins and walks away.

Re: Oh, the Horror!!

I was told by a guy who collected HPH models, yup those high price ones. Apparently he could afford them.
Well any ways he told me that his nephews got in to his collectable room and played WWII with them, destroying all 20 of them, needless to say he was very upset with them. but he did have Insurance and got new ones. this time he added a dead bolt to the door. The insurance company instead on it.

I would tell the kids that every time they brake one, is less toys at Christmas for them.
