I have some issues that could use a little more "highlighting" ij the groves. Is it possible to wash the desired areas, clean off the wash , leaving the scoring more noticeable.
If so, how do I go about getting the desired effect?

Most (quality) art shops, carry stocks of water-based washes, that come in Greys & Browns, dependant on which shade you wish to choose.

Run them down the etched/entrenched lines (where necessary), give 'em a little time to settle (or mainly evaporate).......

Take off any excess, (with care)
using some lightly dampened kitchen roll (tissue).

I found a link with a tutorial using "pigments" for high-lighting those groves. I'm not so sure if it will help you do some 'washes' , but it's worth exploring as an alternative for weathering techniques to your model.

I have read this before i have a friend who used this Pigments stuff and it works really well.
But i have never tried it yet.

Yikes, what a site TMH II has turned out to be. I can hardly believe the number of excellent tips I've received in response to a simple question, or so I thought when I posted it.

i've honestly never gotten this right. granted i only tried it a few times, but i wasn't happy with the overall product once i finished. it's something i want to get better at.
