Re: Decal question

I use Testors Glosscoat (Gloss Clear#2017) and Testors Dullcoat (Flat Clear#2015). I get them at squadron.com.

So do you coat it, apply the decals, and then put another coat on? Because these are peeling after I coated them

You put gloss on first in the area where you are going to put the decal. Let it dry. Apply decal. Let dry over night. Apply flat over decal and any gloss. The gloss allows the decal to lay flat without "Silvering". "Silvering" is teeny tiny air bubbles under the decal.

Re: Decal question

Should my decals I got on come off okay if I want to start over? and is there going to be a problem considering there's already a coat of dull on there?

If they didn't adhere good in the first place......try taking your finger nail and carefully scraping.

Re: Decal question

I've had good results using the Future that zed had mentioned..It's not a wax at all, however, it's acrylic polish...It's self levelling so you can actually apply it to the area you are going to decal with a brush. If you screw up, it's easily removed with ammonia..Give it at least a full day to dry before applying a flat overcoat...I think I'd probably go with fresh decals though.

Re: Decal question

Okay guys I actually ended up using a spray glosscote and let it sit for about 9 hours. I just added the decals it looks better but there's still some silvering...I'm hoping this goes away as it dries?

Re: Decal question

So where do I find floor wax or is there any other products that are recomended?

Longs Drugs, Rite Aid, Walgreens. A bottle of Future is around $7-$10 but will last you a lifetime.

Do you have old or cheap decals

You don't HAVE to use it, but, I also use Micro Set (MY0001) and Micro Sol (MY0002) by Microscale. Micro Set and Sol take some care in using......especially Micro Sol. They actually soften the decal so it pulls down tighter. You have to CAREFULLY follow the instructions.

Yes, and don't freak out when the Micro Sol makes the decals get all wrinkled and shrivelled up like when jim gets out of the pool...They'll settle down as they dry, and fit snug as a bug even over panel lines..Don't be tempted to mess with them!
