Re: 1/50 Sherman Firefly

The RAM is built on a M3 Medium tank chasis so it is not a Sherman Smart D. Looks very similar in appearence.

Re: 1/50 Sherman Firefly

Fireflies come in the following configurations:
M4 with 17 pounder in modified turret ( M4IC)
M4 Composite hull same gun/turret combo (M4IC Composite)
M4A4 same gun/turret combo (M4A4VC)
All versions did have the bow MG removed for additional ammo stowage.
There were none built on the M4A1 or M4A2 hull. There were some 15? built on the M4A3 and sent to Italy, but arrived too late. The 17 pounder was the best gun for dealing with German armor mounted on the Sherman. But for sheer good looks. I think the M4A3E2 with 76mm looks pretty darn tough.
The Ram I and II were based on the M3, but were upgraded with M4 suspensions and other bits as production went on. No Ram gun tanks were used in Combat other than the APC verson, or OP versions. The Ram was given the un-official title of M4A5, but it never stuck.

Re: 1/50 Sherman Firefly

It's a Canadian cousin. The M3 was the Grant and Lee that preceded the Sherman.

Re: 1/50 Sherman Firefly

It also does not look like the RAM ever actaully saw any combat action. Interesting looking tank though.
