Re: Corgi v. HobbyMaster Armor

Has anyone yet received the HM 1/48 King Tigers and if so how do they compare with the Corgi 1/50 Armour range?

Eagerly awaiting some sage advice ...

I haven't gotten 1:48 Tiger II yet, but I've lucked out and got 1:56 Tiger I #332 in Panzer Grey for $11.50US shipped on eBay (the seller threw a fit and wanted to renege on the deal initially).

Let me put this way, the model is so good that my 1:35 Dragon Tiger I DAK will be eBay bound as soon as somene makes a smaller scale version of that particular Tiger I. Imagine 1:72 Dragon Tiger I blown up to 1:56 WITHOUT the loss of crispness of detail and actually better detail overall for about the same price. Metal content is about the same as with early production 1:72 Dragon Tiger I. Not too shabby in this regard, either.

Two thumbs up, way up.

Regards,

Sergey

Swiss neutrality, precision engineering, great chocolate and Alpine splendour - perfect avatar for a moderator don't you think Skunky?

I've always admired the Swiss approach to military issues and their robust approach to the defence of their sovereignty. In WWII they 'assisted' both Axis and Allied aircraft to land - either on a 'voluntary' or 'involuntary' basis - if they accidently strayed into Swiss airspace. Not to mention the large number of Allied aircraft (including Mount N' Ride) making emergency landings in Switzerland after sustaining severe battle damage (see list at http://swissinternees.tripod.com/aircraft.html)

Ohhh i liked the Corgi 1/50 range, so would love to get my hands on one of the 1/48 King Tigers. Any ideas of when these are gonna be shipped over to the UK?

Re: Corgi v. HobbyMaster Armor

I bought the Hobbymaster King Tiger and I like it.

I also have the Corgi and would buy more but the new repaints are always late, nearly six months now and still no news, may be next year they'll show up. The line is so worn out it's pathetic. They need to release some new molds, King Tiger, Jagdpanther, Abrahms, etc.

Hobbymaster should do OK as Corgi has nice catalogue pictures but can't deliver the tanks even though they're just repaints.

Re: Corgi v. HobbyMaster Armor

Gort - Yes, some of the Hobby Master tanks are available, but only the 1:56 scale.

JC Woodman - Hobby Master started a line of 1:56 tanks, but quickly switched to the upcoming 1:48. I'm not sure if they are going to continue the line or kill it? Hawkvoodooone posts all sorts of updates and keeps folks completly up to date. Keep an eye out for his always excellent posts.

Hobby Master makes a 1/56 tank - Tiger I, King Tiger and M1A1s. There are no plans to add any new molds to this line in 2007. Hobby Master makes a 1/48 scale tank - King Tiger which is already on the market and two new versions of the Sherman will be available soon. Hobby Master is entering the 1/72 scale ground power market with releases of the Russian KV-1 and KV-2 the British Cromwell and Centaur. These models should start to make an appearance sometime in March.

Re: Corgi v. HobbyMaster Armor

Hawkonevoodoo... you're web site is an excellent resource.
I am thinking about switching from 1/32nd to the new Hobbymaster 1/48th line of diecast armor (space limitations), although limited at this time (Tiger II's and the awaited Sherman's) by the pictures they look good. As far as display goes, do you think the 1/48th Hobbymasters and 1/50th Corgi's match up well ? and.... do you think HM's will release figures eventually ?

Thanks access to your web site and keep up the great work !

Steve

A 1/48 Sherman versus a 1/50 Sherman is only a matter of about .2 inches, not very much in my books so they should go fairly well. The HG1002 Hobby Master 1/48 Sherman M4 105mm Howitzer 15th Tank Battalion Ground Power Series is supposed to come with some figures and it could be the start of a trend for Hobby Master. Mind you, the pictures on the link to my site are just pre-pros.
Thanks for visiting my site.

Rate the Corgi Tiger (#222)

Please let me know what you think of the Corgi Tiger (I know it's a well used mold) #222 (Kurt Sowa)....and the Corgi line as a whole.

Thanks in advance..
