Post Legend Packaging

I just took delivery of my first Corgi Legend [P-40F 35201], which I ordered without knowing much about the packaging, and I now I have a question about how the model is supposed to be viewed.

I'd like to show it on its wheels, but trying to get it off the stand has proved very difficult. So difficult, in fact, that it's still attached to the clear plastic stand.

So, is it meant to be shown on the stand, or do I need a better Phillips head screwdriver to break it loose from its dogged chains?

Re: Legend Packaging

Just use the phillip screwdriver and take the 3 screws out and you can stand the plane on it's wheels

Re: Legend Packaging

Yeah, that's what I did. I have three of the Legends. All of them are free from their stands. Just take your time while removing them.

Re: Legend Packaging

I could never get a Phillips of the correct size to work. Instead I use a long-shafted, narrow, flat-type screwdriver. Once I remove the bottom screw, I use the screwdriver to carefully pry the bottom plastic part of the stand from the upright. BE SURE YOU PUT A FINGER IN THE LOOP OF THE UPRIGHT (under the model) SO THE MODEL AND UPRIGHT DON'T FALL OFF ONCE YOU GET THE PLASTIC BOTTOM PRYED OFF. Carefully cut away the rubberband holding the nose or tail of the model (whichever), cutting against the plastic stand so you don't damage the model. Use the smallish screwdriver to undo the screw attached to the model. You're free! Now you can display the model on it's wheels. Practice: put the model and stand back together and dismantel it again; of course, if you aren't going to get anymore Legends, you can skip this part. Practice would only lead to unnecessary aggravation!

Getting the plane off the stand was easier than getting the stand off the package for me. It was my first Legend too, and I was so afraid that I would do irreperable damage to the plane trying to figure out a way to dislodge it from the packaging. Thank God the Bf109s don't come with aerials in the Legends series, or I'm sure I'd have broken it off.

Re: Legend Packaging

One or two of these proved to be impossible to remove from the stand in the normal way. I resorted to putting a philips screwdriver in a vice and then put the model on the screwdriver and turn the model carefully.

You also need to be careful when removing the elastic band as it can damage the paintwork.

Re: Legend Packaging

I have a number of legends, and I've never had any real problem with them, thought a couple of them had some screws that were a bit tight, but with the proper application of elbow grease they came off.
