Chrome Plated Question

What's the deal with the super-shiny, chrome plated looking aircraft that Corgi puts out (mainly P-51's)? Do they tarnish and show finger prints easily? Can they be polished back up? I've seen a few of these chromed looking wonders selling inexpensively lately and I am contemplating picking a few up. Any advice?

Re: Chrome Plated Question

I have a 1/144th scale COnstellation "Columbine" that has that finish. It will show finger prints easily, but they can be polished off. And when it is shiny, look out. They are sharp.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Chrome Plated Question

I am not sure if that is what is on my Connie or not, but I like the Connie. Keep in mind that it is a presidential aircraft, and that one of the Columbines reside in the USAFM. The aircraft is so highly polished that the model does look like the real thing. This would more than likely not have been done on a front line warbird.

Re: Chrome Plated Question

The 'shiny' Corgi Eagleston P47 Thunderbolt and Mustangs are great and highly recommended (Shu-Shu and Creamer's Dream complement each other well when on display) .

Re: Chrome Plated Question

I have a Cripes A Mighty Mustang and it's a really cool looking fighter.
The only problem i have is i try to not touch it because i heard your finger prints can tarnish the chrome and not come off very well.
Any one else have that problem ?

Re: Chrome Plated Question

That can be true. As a matter in fact that happens on the real aircraft as well. Usually if you polish it often enough, they will come off.
