Thumbs down Another price hike

Just read Phantom Phan1200's post on his forum that Corgi will raise their prices after Nov 1st.
Is there another zinc shortage or is Corgi just determined to price themselves out of the market?

HM and Gemini just keep looking better and better.

You've got four choices really:

1) Don't buy any more Corgi models. I've basically gone this route as on a limited budget, I just can't afford them at regular prices. This means businesses like the Mule have one less customer they can count on.

2) Buy Corgi models when they are on sale, discounted (Tuesday Morning), lesser quality (Legends or Warbirds lines) or cheap on ebay. Again, this is the route I'm taking. Hurts guys like Martin, but I haven't got any other choice.

3) Focus on other makers. Unfortunately, this won't help you if there's a plane (B-25 or Swordfish for example) that only Corgi makes and you absolutely MUST have. Luckily, I'm not even close to being there yet!

4) Suck it up, shut up and quit complaining, and simply spend today and buy whatever you want. After all, it's only money and they print more of it everyday.

Doing what you want is freedom; doing what you like is happiness.

And there's a couple of places that are selling HM for $19.95! It can't be the zinc. Instead of buying multiples of Corgi molds I'm buying one and waiting for the most part on sales. If they would have kept their prices down like most everyone else they would have gotten a lot more of my money.

Oh that "zinc shortage" business is a buncha hooey....I hear there's tons of it stockpiled in Albania (or is it Albany?)....Anyway, there's so dang much excess zinc laying around because everybody's been conserving and not buying as much, that OZEC has stated that they're planning to start curtailing production of the stuff.....Basstids!

It must
It sure seems to burn a hole in my wallet.

....Back on thread

The thing that bugs me the most is that from outward appearances
the management at Corgi just doesn't seem to have a grasp on how
to obtain/retain collector loyalty. Or maybe they just don't care.

It is always the same... once a company climbs to the top of the heap they forget how they got there and begin to think they are indispensable and the consumer will blindly take whatever they offer.

Re: Another price hike

I think Corgi has some new "bean conters" & they're realizing they can make more selling low class toys than premium models.

Re: Another price hike

I find it sad that a company with the history and reputation of Corgi apppears to think so little of their loyal customer base . They are already pricing themselves out of the market and appear to be unaware that their competitors have realistic pricing combined with an ever increasing level of quality and innovation.

Re: Another price hike

I'll tell ya, boys, if it weren't for their Magnificent Mustangs I probably wouldn't have anything at all to do with them whatsoever anymore......
