Re: Another price hike

Hi Chris,

Nice to hear from you again man. I used to love making plastic models too. Now I'm starting to have fun customizing the metal ones. This way, I get a fairly good diecast model and markings that I choose. I can buy some pretty good molds cheaply off ebay and spend a few bucks on decals and paint. Spend a few fun-filled hours and voila! I've got a one-of-a-kind diecast model. Best of both world in my view.

Re: Another price hike

...as the quality of corgi has deminished and no decent releases of different planes are forthcomming...

Saying things like that, you obviously haven't seen the Swordfish, or Catalina, or Gladiator from Corgi, or the Dauntless and Stuka and Mig 21 from Hobby Master, or the new planes from Gemini. IMO the diecast market has never been in better shape!

Re: Another price hike

I think Corgi just flexed their muscle, They're not going anywhere soon.
They just locked up what will likely be about $1500 of mine.

Cool, although I have to wonder, since you mentioned your interest in owning one of the connoisseur releases on another thread this means you plan to buy roughly 12 of next year's releases? Out of all they have to offer that is all you want?

All chops busting aside, I admit it is an aggressive release from Corgi but I am still going to take a wait and see attitude. Aside from the Gladiator and Swordfish I am very disappointed with Corgi due to the wait for the P-38 as well as some of the items in the 1/50 line so I want results before I commit my hopes and dreams to 2007.

I am usually wrong with my passions - my wife is my only success in this arena and my status as a Kansas Jayhawks, KC Chiefs, KC Royals and (until 2004) Red Sox fan attest to this - so I am learning to be a bit more skeptical where they are concerned. I am usually wrong so please keep my streak alive, Corgi.

Re: Another price hike

Got a look at the new prices and ouch its going to hurt. 1/72 AA fighter $42.00 Canadian, Halifax, JU52 $122.00 . Thankfully I am only excited about a few aircraft this year. Corgi might have come out with a kick but line up for 2007 but they seem to be giving the collector a kick between the legs.

Re: Another price hike

I'm not real fond of higher prices but if the new releases are the caliber of the swordfish and gladiator I don't think I can be too mad about it
