Your favorite.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Another price hike

I do like Corgi, and will continue to buy them, price hike or no. However, I will have to buy less because 1) on my income, higher prices mean fewer models, and 2) I also like HM and Gemini (including those pesky little 1/400 airliners), and to get models made by the latter two I can't get as many of those made by the former.

So, no matter what happens to Corgi prices or availability (!), Corgi isn't going to get as much of my business. Eventually, either everyone's prices are going to rise, and/or Corgi's prices will become more competitive through better control over factories, or whatever (or bye, bye Corgi, which WOULD be a tragedy).

However, I just can't complain about prices, because I already can't afford about 80% of Corgi's total model-plane production, and most of my B-17's and B-24's and such were already bought from cut-rate stores or through online vendor sales. In addition, where Corgi will no doubt take a sales hit (and they know that), we collectors now have available planes we only dreamed of previously from two top-notch, up-and-coming manufacturers.

So I think, while Corgi is going to be an overall loser (at least for awhile), we collectors are going to end up being way ahead.

MHO, and watching developments

Re: Another price hike

All i can say is i will buy only what i need from them if these prices are too high.
There a few others out there that are just as good as corgi..
If you look at all things around you...prices are going up on everything.

On the bright side, the planes you already have are worth more....on paper anyway!

Re: Another price hike

I will still continue to buy corgis but I will probably cut back on which ones I buy...which I'm needing to do anyway because my case is starting to overpopulate and I don't have too many slots left for shelf expansion

Two things:

1. You'll get paid next week too.
2. Additional display cases are available at many fine furniture stores in your area.

Seriously though, I feel like I'm getting to the point where most of the planes I'm dying (WWII) for have already been made. Sure there are a few here and there but HM seems to read my mind and fill those gaps. How many[hundred] planes is too many??? Prices shcmices...life is too short to lay off buying models.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

Sadly my job does not guarantee a paycheck (stupid comissioned payplan ) and that has happened to me once or twice when I'm trying to buy things and it really flat out sucks. My biggest issue with the space is I'm still living at home slowly but surely finishing my degree part time and if I brought another display case into the house I would probably start World War III

Re: Another price hike

Hey folks,
The Corgi price raise is coming. It's only partly due to the rising cost of zinc.

Mostly it's due to the increase in wages for Chinese workers are going up. This is coupled with the fact that as these costs have risen, Corgi has been absorbing the price increase without passing that along to the consumer. Instead of slowly raising prices as costs rose, they have been holding back untill it seems as if they are making one massive increase. (Which they are.)

Corgi are facing the twin spector of costs rising above the point they can absorb them and still turn a reasonable profit and the fact that new companies are coming on board that are China based entailing them to massive benefits. (Owning their own factories being the first and foremost.)

On top of this is the fact that Hobby Master and Gemini are producing planes that are (arguably) superior to anything that Corgi has produced.

What does that mean for us? I'm thinking better diecast. Corgi is going to have to raise their prices. I can accept that as long as we get better planes.

If Corgi is willing to learn a lesson or three from Dragon, Hobby Master and Gemini they will give us crisper and more detailed diecast. We will get the planes we have been clamoring AND they will come with moving control surfaces, interchangable loads and all the bells and whistles we desire.

Otherwise, it will be a rough couple of years for Corgi.

Re: Another price hike

Given Corgi's publically-available financial results, they are clearly not profiteering from the sale of diecast products! They are currently selling their models at a significantly higher price than the competitors, yet still are losing money.

Raising the retail price of their models is not a long-term solution to their financial woes - clearly the overhead structure of the company needs addressing.

I for one hope Corgi survives and thrives - they have, and continue to bring us diecast models no one else has attempted. But raising their pricing is likely to hurt the company far more than it helps.
