| Is there a mistake with the painting of the the Erich Hartmann BF109? It seems the big dollop should be painted yellow. Please check the picture below. This is the picture copied from this link Erich Hartmann and Grigoriy Rechkalov ![]() And this is the Corgi Version ![]() And the HEART insignia on the fusalage seems not corret too. Below is the pic of real Hartmann and his plane. The heart insignia looks different with the one on the model. ![]() What do you think? | |||||||||||||

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109 Hartmann flew more than one aircraft, and there is more than one painted profile of these aircraft out there. Just because it doesn't match up on that particular profile doesn't mean that Corgi got it wrong. | |||||||||||||

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109 I've seen profiles of it with both the yellow there and the yellow not there. I've also seen the spinner painted with a thicker corkscrew design. As for the photos of the heart, both photos show a different heart if you look closely, God only knows how many different schemes there were for a specific pilots plane, especially a Luftwaffe pilot that survived the war since they flew every darn day and lost their planes due to wrecks or updated models frequently. Having said that, I would like Corgi to make other schemes of Hartmann's 109. | |||||||||||||

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109 Melilot - I think Hartmann would have flown many 109's in his tour of duty. The picture above has a completely different scheme so not an accuarate comparison to Corgi's release i'm afraid. | |||||||||||||

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109 I agree.. The 109 is just a profile painted by an artist and doesn't necessarily reflect the real plane, just the artists interpretation of what he thinks the plane looks like. The heart as shown in the pics is off of one of his early 109G's, not the one modelled by Corgi. The profile I have does have the yellow cowl though, so there is some argument there, but as 11SQNLDR pointed out, unless you can find a definitive pic of this plane, we don't know which is correct.

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109
The 109 in the pic is probably a G-10 or G-14 going off the tail (Tall tail typical of late model 109s, but also used on some very late G-6 models), and I can't tell from the pic if it has the cowl blisters or not. But the main point of this post is that the Yellow under the cowl was a friend/foe identifier and was discontinued late in the war and not always used on every 109G-6. And, on a side note, my Planes and Pilots series book on the 109 from 1942-45 has a profile of Corgi's Hartmann 109G-6 and it is just as Corgi painted it.

What is a fuel octane triangle? How was it misplaced? Can you show the pic?

| Re: I found a mistake with the painting of the Staffelkapitan Erich Hartmann BF109 Look at your posted image of the 109 that you used as a an example. it is just above the large 1 on the fuselage...it is the fueling location. | |||||||||||||
