Re: Just how many Corgi Aircraft do you have in your Collection?

After months of looking at it, I just added my first Buccaneer to the collection - the South African one.

Gotta say, one of Corgis better models! I now have another three Buccs on order

Without a doubt the Buccaneer is a stunning model. Stunning aircraft to see performing too. I can still see the plan view of the Bucc as she turns tightly over the airfield from my younger days at airshows. It's a very distinctive shape. I have three and am still after the Gulf War one. Apart from the SAAF one I also have the No. 12 Sqn. and Raspberry Ripple ones. The Raspberry Ripple still operates from Cape Town in fact. There are three airworthy Buccs here and stunning performers they are! The 12 Sqn. model was my first jet model. I just couldn't walk out of the shop without it.

Re: Just how many Corgi Aircraft do you have in your Collection?

So I guess this poll means I should go out to my garage and actually take a counting of my birds? Frankly, that just scares the bejesus out of me so I'll have to pass......

(I'm guessing between 75-100 just Corgi's, but probably more. How many Corgi's total have been manufactured? Anyone know?)

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Just how many Corgi Aircraft do you have in your Collection?

According to Wings900 (a good place to track your collection), I have 182 Corgis out of a collection of 443 models, though Wings900 does not list 22 Witty, 10 Easy Model, 26 Matchbox, 16 Dragon Warbirds, and 2 AEROart Mustangs.

Now's a good time to come back, Matchbox. We need you!!

Average price for the collection is US$24. That's cheap by today's standards...

Re: Just how many Corgi Aircraft do you have in your Collection?

Counting "extras" I once bought in bulk to allow for "repaints", I currently have 312 Corgis, compared to 146 Dragons, 51 Armours and 47 Hobby Masters. However, HM is now my primary brand for quality diecast warbirds, with Corgi, if it regroups successfully, positioned as a strong second. As for the others----Gemini, Carousel 1 and Century Wings, mainly-----They strike me as niche players, offering relatively small lineups of new toolings. Because of this, the latter trio will probably account for only 10% of my annual purchases. Of course, I also buy Model Power, Altaya, Italeri and other mass produced products---primarily as gap fillers----but these can't really be equated with Corgi, HM, etc. due to their inferior quality.

Re: Just how many Corgi Aircraft do you have in your Collection?

Money is tight at the moment but I still somehow find it when a good model comes out.

I have over 100 Corgi planes, not sure how many and I don't want to start adding up the cost.
I have a good cross section of other makes, HM is now in second position after all those must have releases from them. (and more to come )!!!!!

I would have liked to buy one each of all the GMP planes but I had to settle for just 3 P40s so far.

The only manufacturer that has not really tempted me is Witty , I only have one of their models , a Zero , not bad and panel lines are very accurate.

God Bless America.
