Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

Iam all for boycotting Corgi's if this is the stance that Hornby has taken. Why pay good money for a inaccurate model?, its a joke really. Well heck with them.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

I love my Corgi planes (even my P51s, no matter what anyone says!), but it really does seem as though HM will be carrying the diecast torch, for the next few years at least. In the absence of real developments from Hornby, the attitude they are currently displaying to dedicated customers does not bode well. I truly hope I'm wrong but it may be the doomsayers were right.

Amen. Amen. Amen. I now have almost all the P-51's, including all the B's. It was fun while it lasted. However, the times they are a'changin...

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

I must agree on your comments about the FW 200, it is certainly a beautiful plane.

I cannot understand Hornby at all, its seems that they have a touch of arrogance that can only harm their image.
Just when they should be doing all they can to improve their image or should I perhaps say Corgis image they give the impression of telling collectors take it or leave it.
For my part I will leave it thank you, but I know that some time in the future they bring out a stunning diecast plane that I will just have to have.
However Hornby it will have to be stunning because after the recent failure to honour Corgis promises and the dreadful lack of communication plus the price increases (they didn't have a communication problem there) from them I shall always look elsewhere first.

I couldn't agree with you more Jim. Even now spending $150 on a Halifax is a big ask for me. Admittedly I bought a Lancaster off the Mule for $150 recently, but then, it's a Lanc. I passed up the CC Libby and B17 because I'm just not prepared to spend that much on them.

The Fw 200 is a model I would love to have but at $150 I'm not willing to apply decals myself. Yes, I do in fact have a few Dragons, one each Ju 87 & Me 262 and a few Me 109s and Fw 190s. Much as I like them, without the swastikas they just don't look right. Even Mrs. Van agrees, I showed her an Fw 190. I've had a some of them for years and can't find any swastikas locally. Then there's the issue of applying the correct ones. That's crazy when you're spending so much on a Corgi model. I'm one of those folks who likes diecast because you buy them ready to display out of the box.

I will get a Ju 52 now and Ju 88 a little later on. As it is, due to Corgi not delivering announced models on time most of my money has gone to Hobby Master and Century Wings this year. Corgi are just not customer oriented enough. This is being brought into stark relief by HM in particular. As you say, they had no problem communicating the price increases. If anything, I'll be looking to get models missed or passed up. The Ju 52 is a case in point, I was waiting for the float plane version. That's another thing, I was waiting, even though its been delayed for so long. Given their arrogance and in my view disrespect for their loyal customers I too will be more circumspect before making a purchase.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

Just another thought, given the new prices, there is just no way I will be satisfied with crosses instead of swastikas on allied fighters. This is a really big flaw on the Dragons too. I recently aquired the Night Reaper Hurricane with 11 victories. What would that have looked like with crosses? Check out the Barton Halifax, it too has a swastika on the nose art. Maybe now it will become even more sought after and a viable alternative to Friday the Thirteenth.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

I suspect that pre-Hornby Corgi Aviation Archive Luftwaffe models are likely to become increasingly sought after with a corresponding increase in value ...

This makes my complete 1/32 Bf 109 collection that much sweeter!! Now I hope they don't release the working range Graf, because I won't buy it without swazis.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

The Corgi management have been able to get the swastika policy from Hornby reversed ,the swastika will stay.

At last, a sign of common sense at Corgi. BTW, sniperUK, perhaps you should start a new thread with this news, otherwise many mambers may not note it.
