Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

I think my bitterness and animosity toward Corgi USA, and now Hornby, are a matter of public record. If I may partially quote the Bard, "A POX ON BOTH YOUR HOUSES!"

Saying that will have no effect on anything, except make me feel better.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

Questions questions

I not sure......Gemini aces or Hobby Master. Can anyone help me?

Disapointment, but sadly I guess understandable.

Then again, why continue manufacturing that product?
Is it like selling cigarrettes without the filter? Oh hang on......We can still go down the road and buy a pack of DEATH! In fact, it's advertised to us daily.
Can the filter be supplied FREE OF CHARGE with the pack?
Why can't it be supplied with the option to remove?

Does this mean that any other aircraft that have kill markings for not only German aircraft (Swazi) but also Japanese (rising sun), should also be banned?
Are manufacturers suggesting for a moment, that we cast a blind eye to the events of the past?
Are we not supposed to learn from these events?
Is not the RED star responsible for many atrocities as well?
Who dropped the bomb?
Who established the first concentration camp in South Africa?

Where does it stop?

Reduce the production per unit for collectors only, and not for general distribution. If you want to sell crack loads of CR*P, then flog Fuzzy Wuzzy Bungles and his/her politically correct Nuzzle Buffin friends to Joe public and his PC mates out there. Where's the historical accuracy...... You may as well interpret religious text........You can believe anything with the right interpretation, and what's more many countries may even defend your right to do so.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND In no way do I support the political ideologies represented by the Swazi or Nasties, nor in ANY way do I condone or defend their abhorrent activities during their reign, then or any representatives now.

I've rambled on, but I have had a bad week. I have collected nearly all of the models Corgi has produced from WW2, and it's a period of history I find intriguing with respect to where we are now. PLEASE NOTE I do not mean any disrespect to anyone. Again, I can understand. I'm disappointed because I believe we are removing the accuracy in our history.

One of our local schools banned cartwheels and handstands in the school grounds, IN CASE, someone got hurt. Friends I know can't send their kids to school with peanut butter sandwiches, in case another child accidentally touches the sandwhich.

I hope I don't get flak over this.....

Thumbs down Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

A rare insight into Hornby's boardroom... alledgedly the motion for "No Swazi's" was put forwarded by Fozzy Bear & a unanimous vote of approval was given by all of the muppets present...

Take it out and play with it

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

I think what we have to realise at this point is that we are no longer Corgi's market. I think the way Hornsby is looking at it is that we were their market, and the company failed. If they continue catering to that market, they will continue to fail. They are going to revamp the line and aim at a new market. That is why I'm so curious as to how well their product will sell? Will they find that bigger market? I don't see it developing on this forum and I'm very curious to see how many new folks Hornsby changes bring to the diecast world, and conversly to this forum?

I think your'e totally wrong, Corgi caused their own demise, wrong schemes, high quantities, arrogance and unrealistic prices. Selling to new markets won't change any of these things, simply selling a different version for mainland Europe is obviously too simple a solution.

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

Not sure but isn't this something that is just unavoidable for Hornby/Corgi? As a UK based company, I'm assuming they simply want to avoid any commotion.

Not sure I understand what you think being a UK based company has to do with it?

No flak from me, I agree, Lance. It all seems pretty forthright to me!

Re: Hornby: no swastikas on new releases

Disturbing news indeed. Makes me think the recent Fw190's were dumped through Hong Kong for a reason. Wonder if any other models were far enough along to warrant a similar dump.

Originally, HM did not have swastikas. They listened to the collectors then changed their policy. The newest German Stuka (HA0131) has the swastika, as well as all the Bf-110s.
