S for Sugar question from Corgi newbie

I'm usually found over on the FM 1/48 sub-forum, but have recently discovered Corgis in order to fill in some classic requirements.... particularly British bombers.

I've just bagged an S for Sugar model on ebay (see CORGI AVRO LANCASTER R5868/'PO-S 467 SQUADRON on eBay, also Aircraft, Corgi, Diecast Vehicles, Toys Games (end time 25-Aug-08 14:56:38 BST) ) and just wondered whether this is a particularly sought after version of the Lancaster or whether I've picked up the wrong model. It seemed a good deal at around £68 including postage....

Plus, any advice on other 1/72 bombers I should chase down?

In answer to your Question(s), Dusty, Yes it is & ('erm) Yes it is (again !)

I paid £ 80 for mine, a coupla months back.

AND I had to travel for it, to pick it up

How your's arrives (condition) will determine whether you ACTUALLY Got a Bargain, or Not ????????????

Good score for a nice price Dustybin you're gonna love "Sugar" she is nice as are all Corgi Lancasters, For other 1/72 bombers the Wellingtons are nice so are the B-17's especially Memphis Belle, Nine o' Nine & Bit o' Lace. In B-24 Corgi's Strawberry bitch is highly sought after but still can be had, hope this helps you.

Well don't just stand there........GET ONE UP!!!

Re: S for Sugar question from Corgi newbie

She arrived today and, as far as I can see, is in mint condition as per the listing. One quick question.... there is no paper work and I'm not quite sure what the extra landing gear 'doors' are for in the box, if indeed that's what they are. I haven't opened the gear doors on the engines and am happy to display it on its stand in 'flight' mode, but presumed the doors already there would stay in place?

Re: S for Sugar question from Corgi newbie

Gear down configuration with a Corgi Lancaster involves removing the closed door sections, installing the two sets of open door sections and installing the deployed landing gear.

This link will help: Avro Lancaster Home

I'd recommend installing the gear doors first because it's a pain in the arse to install them with the landing gear already installed.
