Re: P47 advice

I have owned both Corgi and Dragon P-47s (Bubbletops and razorbacks). I sold all my Corgi Tbolts for Dragon's versions, Eagleston and Gabreski's, but you have to watch out for the ugly open cowl flaps on Dragons.

Yes, something I recently found out. The Dragons look so much better, almost sleek, when the cowl flaps are closed.

Re: P47 advice

In general it's a case of what do you like more? I apologize but I don't have pictures of the Dragon or Corgi so I can't speak for each specific bird but I do own several from both companies.

Overall, the Dragon's are much sharper. If that is your sole critia and you don't really care about liveries, get the Dragon.

The Corgi's are typical Corgi's. It is a good mould for them so it will not "embarrass" the rest of your flight line by any means.

Both have a couple of drawbacks.

The Corgi's do not have an opening cockpit, as the Dragon's do. The Corgi's also come with a pilot, the Corgi's do not. (I would rather have no pilot and opening cockpit but most folks seem to prefer a pilot.)

If you are a real stickler for realism, the Corgi's have an air of "toy" to them. It's nothing that should put you off, or is out of line for many Corgi's but the Dragon's have more of an air of "This thing is about to leak oil," where the Corgi's don't.

The Corgi's have fixed ordinance/fuel tanks. (If they have tanks at all.) The Dragons all have option fuel tanks. (No bombs though.)

The Dragon's have the infamous fiddly bits. If you have to move your birds around a lot, or box them occasionally to swap out for something else due to limited space, the Dragon's parts could get lost easily. (Just make sure you have a flat clean table to put on the fiddly bits and take them off and you will be fine.)

Dragon has a couple of liveries that have the top 4 engine cowling flaps open, which annoys me to no end. (It just looks silly to me.)

Both companies make a good bird and if the price is right you won't be dissapointed.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: P47 advice

I prefer Dragon's, they just look more realistic to me on the shelf, even if they aren't as "collectible" and have the fiddly bits.
