Re: Catalinas are landing!!

This is probably sacrilege to you Corgi aficionados - but can the pilots be removed fom the Catalina and Swordfish? Personnaly I think they detract from model.

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

I see you are from Pittsburgh as well. I am from the South hills. Where are you from man? It is always nice to meet another Steeler fan here.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

They are definitely in the way when the Swordfish folds it's wings!

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

Seen pics of the Cat on FM, it has a trigear configuration. On pictures from Corgi when it was announced it had the old tail-dragger, why did they switch? Well I liked the change, didn't care for the tail-dagger. But I am waiting for Black Cat.

I presume you are referring to the beaching gear as this is a flyingboat as opposed to the later amphibious versions? If so then the nose wheel shown in the FM's pictures shouldn't be there. It wasn't there on the prepro so why on earth is it on the production models? It should also have a wheeled beaching trolley at the rear instead of the pole with a flat base.

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been on a binge buying spree. One of my purchases was for the first Corgi PBY and it is a real eye-catcher in my collection! Stunning to say the least and it is a BIG model. With the outer pontoons in the up position, the wingspan is longer than any of my bombers (B-17s, B-24s, Lancs and a Wellington - all 1:72).

Get one if you can - you won't regret it!

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

I don't know about you guys, but all of the info on the Black Cat says it is a PBY-5, but the pics look like a PBY-5A. Does anyone know?
